The Kansas City-based indie rock band Hembree have shared a new single, the loose-limbed and vibrant “Reach Out,” which underscores the humanity of Hembree’s genre-averse pop-rock style. The band’s Isaac Flynn shares, “It’s about how society treats the poor, and how people are too embarrassed and neglected to ask for help. You lose touch with reality, which could happen to anyone.” The eye-popping animated video for “Reach Out” was directed and illustrated by Carpenter Collective with animation by Igor + Valentine.

“Reach Out” marks the first bit of music Hembree has released since their debut album, 2019’s House on Fire. Coming off a stretch of touring the band were ready to channel the energy of being on the road into their next artistic statement. They found themself in the studio before the pandemic and when the world shut down, it gave the band an opportunity to look inwards and refine their own sonic approaches while embracing a newfound maturity.
